Description

ACROSSING will make a critical contribution towards an open smart home (SH) technology infrastructure by interlinking disciplines from sensor technology and integration, context inferences, and interaction, to service infrastructures, and considering key principles of social impact, security and privacy. The ACROSSING network brings together all required knowledge, skills, and stakeholders to offer a comprehensive training programme including industry practice and longer-term benefit in establishing cross-institutional PhD programmes and further partner collaborations. ACROSSING addresses the following targets: Scientific target: Develop advanced technologies and toolsets for SH-based assisted living, including four specialised technology infrastructures, a shared experiment data repository, and guidelines for SH application development based on the best-practice demonstrators. Training target: Educate 15 ESRs in multi-disciplinary, transferable skills and wider perspective to become the SH experts, nurture the ESRs’ thinking to become future research leaders in SH-based assisted living, and to create networks and common ground for future collaborations among partners. Stakeholders Societal target: Increase European innovation capacity and competitiveness in SH technology through the collaboration of industry, academia, and users by integrating totally four ICT-driven application demonstrators as best-practice examples for the envisioned open SH platform.
