Mr. Athanasios Salamanis received the Diploma degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, in July 2013. His thesis entitled “Named Entity Recognition and Disambiguation” was elaborated at the Intelligent Systems & Software Engineering Lab (ISSEL) under the supervision of professor Mr. Pericles A. Mitkas. Since September 2013, he is working as a research software engineer at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH/ITI). Since October 2016, Mr. Salamanis is PhD candidate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Polytechnic School of the Democritus University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece, under the supervision of professor Mr. Georgios Gravvanis. His main research interests include applied machine learning, high performance computing and big data analytics.
